Like so many people, Bert dreamed for years of running his own bed & breakfast. On 25 June 2016, he made his dream come true: Befour opened its doors to the general public. Heren Loebas pulled a subtle house style out of its hat, to put the new place to be on the map right away.

Creative briefing

The look and feel of the site needed to match the interior, but if possible the website should also have a subtle retro touch. Apart from that, we had carte blanche for the entire house style. The logo, website, flyers and invitations would give the brand a clear image and create considerable brand awareness.

Behind the scenes

Befour or B4 is pronounced as it would be in English. Four Bs, in other words, three of which can be found in Bert’s B&B. We find the fourth one everywhere, even between the sheets. Each of the guest rooms proudly bears the name of a mayor of Aalst, or a ‘burgemeester’ in Dutch: B4, bingo! The font and colour palette emphasise the B&B’s contemporary feel, with the monocle glancing back at the past. A perfect match.

Invitation

The people invited to the opening received a high-quality invitation including a cut-out monocle. This little quirk found its way into the rest of the house style as well. It playfully encouraged people to post a funny photo. That was a real eye-opener on social media! The evening’s seven lucky winners had the chance to spend the very first night in the bed & breakfast.
